Sarah Palin

Some new poll of Republican insiders has Sarah Palin running dead last in a proposed 2012 primary field. Which is fine because after shorting her term as Governor of Alaska, I don't think she should run. But Mitt Romney leads the field. You know, the guy who promised Michigan voters whatever he wanted to hear in the 2008 primaries. The guy who passed a horrible failure of a healthcare reform package in his state. He's no a conservative, he's another GOP stands-for-nothing.

If the GOP was smart they wouldn't be asking about whether Palin was going to run in 2012. They would be firing Michael Steele and making her the head of the party in 2010.

Michael Steele only got his job because of his race -- a pathetic attempt to create a foil to Obama.

I agree that Palin shouldn't run for President after flaking out during her first term as governor. But GOP party leader? That's not a bad idea at all.

Not sure why she stepped down as governor, but I'm not sure she flaked. As I understand it she was basically being bankrupted by frivolous lawsuits because of a loophole in state law. But she's going to have to do something significant to expunge that from the record, before she can mount a successful run.

Not sure about Steele either. Being black didn't hurt, but the current party is has been picking moderate middle-of-the-road individuals for leadership positions even when either extreme would be preferable. They did it with John Boehner too.

Party leader is really the perfect role for Palin. It allows her to excite the Republican base without making herself the lightning rod for ever liberal's hate. The reason she is so hated is that she states bluntly what the liberals are up to .

I hadn't heard about the lawsuits.

I don't actually care if a candidate has a long history of elected experience. If anything, it's a disadvantage. But I think that starting a job and then up and quitting halfway through...well, I hope that she never tries to run based on her experience as governor.

Party leader would be a good job for her, if for no other reason than the people that she would infuriate.

As for the White House: I still want Ace of Ace of Spades HQ to run.
